REMBRANDT

$23,900

Catalog # B470   |

H70 x W63 x L28 cm — 38kg

Rembrandt presented in a ceremonial costume of the 17th century, as the artist had often portrayed himself in his self-portraits. The artist is holding a palette with paints and the brushes. Inside Rembrandt’s ceremonial camisole is a miniature sculpture of King David — a hint that the master repeatedly turned to biblical subjects, especially from the Old Testament. On the inside of the camisole are two self-portraits. If you open the artist’s beret, you will find a figure of his wife Saskia that often posed for him. Finally, with his right foot the artist is stepping on the book — Rene Descartes’s treatise «Meditations on First Philosophy», as Rembrandt himself was fond of the scientific thinking of French philosopher.

Handmade. Limited Edition. Official Frank Meisler Gallery brand exclusive certificate of authenticity. Metal Alloys with silver/gold plated elements. Rotating marble base.
