Batya Meisler (Pepi, Pepita, Phillis Hochman)
Born in Brooklyn, New York, USA, in 1933, the daughter of Mildred (Miriam) and Alter (Abraham) Hochman. She was known as “the best ball player on the block”.
A true Zionist, she traveled by boat to Israel, made Aliyah in 1949, and lived in Kibbutz Maagan Michael.
She married Frank in 1953 and, after a short period in England, returned to Israel and settled in the Artists’ Quarter of the Old City of Jaffa.
They started the family business in 1962, building a true success story and a lasting family legacy. She was charismatic, hospitable, and in every way a unique individual.
She was an athlete, a wife, a mother, and a successful businesswoman, best described as “the woman behind the man”.
She passed away in 2013, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea from her beloved home in the Old City of Jaffa’s port.
