Dear Marit,
Thank you for sending me an invitation to today’s Zoom meeting and sharing your family’s life with us via your presentation. Seeing your dad’s photos, and listening to you describe his life, I could feel how much love you put into your preparation. I came to know your dad and his artistry 40 years ago when we visited Israel to celebrate our son’s bar mitzvah in Jerusalem. While touring Jaffa, we came upon your dad’s gallery and his craftsmanship drew us into it. My parents, sons, wife and I were mesmerized by what we saw, and your mom and dad were so personable and made our family feel so much at home.
That started a quest to acquire as many of his work’s of art as I could. Subsequent visits in 1985 and 1989 had me come away with more of his statues. Today I am proud to say that I own more than 55 of your father’s works of art. At this stage in my life, I try to save as much money as I can to buy another statue whenever I can. You and I have had some contacts in the past that have resulted in some very beautiful purchases.
When I look at many of the items in my collection, I can see the joy and humor that you described about your father. His sense of humor must have been transmitted to you, for I could hear the love in your voice when you discussed his life and the times you spent with him. I thank you again for sharing all of that information and photos with us. May G-d keep you safe and bring a permanent peace to Israel.
Fondly,
Jack L. Weber
