Description
The “Metal on Metal” collection is a series of wall art created by Marit Meisler, inspired by the surface details found in the artwork of her father. In 1981, her father crafted the first Jerusalem sphere, a renowned piece inspired by the medieval Bünting cloverleaf map depicting Jerusalem as the center of the world. Marit has recently visited the “Jerusalem Sphere” sculpture, while being in Jerusalem in 2022, and was captivated by the intricate details of the sphere, prompting her to capture numerous photographs.
Frank initially crafted metal sculptures from Styrofoam, resulting in surfaces rich in texture and detail. Marit utilized these surface details as the foundation for her wall art.
A manipulated image of her new “Concrete Jerusalem Sphere” sculpture that echoes her father’s iconic Jerusalem sphere, is seamlessly integrated into the metal background, creating a layered effect. The final artwork is digitally printed onto an aluminum panel, resulting in three layers of metal imagery.
This image can be printed at a larger size or as part of a triptych.
Material: digital print on an aluminum plate. Limited edition of 30 prints.
