Description
This iconic sculpture of Jerusalem was personally gifted by Frank Meisler to (then) Prince Charles when he was invited to dine with him. Prior to that, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was also presented with this work as a gift, which is the origin of its nickname title.
The sculpture depicts the City of Jerusalem in the form of a sphere. Its concept is inspired by medieval maps that portrayed Jerusalem as a perfectly circular city at the center, the navel, of the world, from which all distances to other cities were measured. In this way, the work conveys the spiritual essence and enduring symbolism of the city.
Handmade, the sculpture is mounted on a revolving rod, allowing the viewer to experience Jerusalem as a living, dynamic presence. It is part of a limited edition and is accompanied by an official Frank Meisler Gallery exclusive certificate of authenticity.
Materials include metal alloys with full 24K gold plating, with silver plated surfaces over it.
